Custom periods are designed for rosters that don't follow a set or regular pattern. Instead of repeating a fixed cycle, each period can be made up of its own custom set of weeks.
Setting up custom periods
Custom periods can be enabled in one of two ways:
If you convert an existing roster with a set period pattern to custom periods, your past periods will be converted automatically.
Note: Converting a roster to custom periods cannot be reversed.
Creating a new period
Each new period consists of:
The start date of each successive period follows on from the end date of the previous one.
Dates Beyond Your Existing Periods
Navigating to a date without an existing period will prompt you to create a new one.
Note: Custom periods can be a minimum of 2 weeks and a maximum of 52.
The custom period table
The custom period table also shows the status of each period:
Published indicates whether the period contains published employee allocations. If a period has been published, it cannot be modified or deleted.
Snapshot indicates whether the period contains any saved versions of the roster. If snapshots exist, the period cannot be modified or deleted.
Adding notes
Notes can be added at the bottom of the custom periods section. These are a handy way to keep track of decisions or changes, and help maintain clarity between admins. For example, you might note why a particular period was set to an unusual length.
Current/History Tabs
Use the All, Current, and History tabs to filter your schedule periods by status, showing everything, active periods only, or completed periods from the past.
Saving your changes
Remember to press Save after making any changes to your custom periods. Changes that haven't been saved will not be applied.
