Bring related shifts together so you can use them in rules, staffing demands and requests.
A shift group lets you refer to several shifts with one name. For example, Night shifts could include both an eight-hour and a twelve-hour night shift.
Create the underlying shifts first, then configure the group where you have roster configuration access. Choose its members to match the intended requirement: including a day off changes what a rule using that group allows.
Whole-screen orientation: open Shift/Shift Groups using the sidebar highlighted for step 1. The location selector and surrounding navigation remain visible.
Create a group
1. Open Shift/Shift Groups in the left sidebar and scroll below Shifts to Shift Groups.
2. Use the + add control at the top right of that section; the adjacent dropdown contains additional add options.

3. Enter a unique name. It cannot match an existing shift, shift group, task or on-call duty, and cannot be off.
4. In Shifts, select the shifts that belong to the group.
5. If needed, use the task and skill fields to narrow which combinations the group describes. Review these separately from the shift selection.
6. Select Admin Used Only if the group should not be offered to employees when they enter preferences.
For a straightforward Night shifts group, select the relevant night shifts explicitly. This is easier to review than an exclusion-based group when only a few shifts belong.

Use inverse groups carefully
Inversed changes the shift list into exclusions: the group represents choices other than the listed shifts. A group called “On” can exclude off to represent working choices.
Check off explicitly when using an inverse group. If off is not excluded, a day off can remain a valid choice and a rule using that group may not mean what you expect. Task Inversed applies the same inclusion-versus-exclusion idea to the task field.

If a group behaves unexpectedly, check its inverse settings and task or skill restrictions. If employees cannot see it in preferences, check Admin Used Only.
Delete a shift group
Review where the group is used before deleting it. Select its checkbox and use the delete action. Deletion cannot be undone.
Deleting a shift group also removes references to it from employee eligibility, areas, staffing demands, preferences and fixed allocations. Rules that depend on the group are removed. If a staffing demand has no criteria left after the group is removed, that demand is removed too. The underlying shifts remain.
These changes affect the location's live roster setup, not just the row you delete. Review the affected rules, coverage and employee eligibility before generating or publishing again.
