Match employees to suitable work using skills and eligibility.
Skills describe qualifications or competencies that affect who can perform a duty or meet a coverage requirement. For example, a Senior skill for skills mix purposes.
With permission to configure employees and skills, start by identifying the differences your roster needs to recognise. You may not need a separate skill if everyone has it and no assignment or coverage requirement uses it.

Create skills
1. Open Employees in the left sidebar and scroll down to the Skills section below the employee table.
2. Use the + add control at the top right of the Skills section. The adjacent dropdown contains additional add options.

3. Enter a clear name and description for each skill. Use names your roster planners can distinguish without guessing.
4. Return to the employee records and select the relevant skills for each person.

5. Where a task requires particular skills, associate those skills with the task. If you use areas, check their skill requirements as well.
In this example, Daniel Reed is a senior nurse and Isaac Parker is a junior nurse. Creating a skill defines it; assigning it to employees and selecting it on a task or staffing requirement puts it to use.
Change or remove skills
Review the employees and requirements that use a skill before changing its meaning. To delete a skill, select its checkbox in the skills table and use the delete action. Deletion cannot be undone, so do not remove a skill merely to work around an assignment problem without checking the affected setup.
