When to use preferences and how does it work
You can add your preferred shift patterns through the employee app under the "Schedule" tab. Choose "My Preference" to add/remove personal preferences.
There are two types of preferences that you can add: date-specific preference and recurring preference.
For instance, you can establish a recurring preference for working the night shift every Friday. However, if you desire to take a day off on December 15th (Friday), your date-specific preference will take precedence over your usual recurring preference on that particular date.
Date specific preferences
Date-specific preferences are one-off preferences. It ties to the date you put the shift pattern or type.
Date-specific preferences always override the recurring preferences on that specific date if there's a conflict.
To add date-specific preference:
Tap on a date to start
Click "Add/Edit My Preferences"
Choose the shift for the date
The date selector will automatically go into the next date
Choose the shift for the next date
Click Done once you finish
To remove/edit date-specific preference:
Tap on the date you want to change
Choose "Delete" to delete the existing preference(s);
OR choose a new shift to change your existing preference(s)
Recurring preferences
Recurring preferences are repeated weekly. For example, if you would like to work the PM shift every Wednesday:
To add recurring preferences:
Switch from "Date Specific" (in purple) to "Recurring" (in orange)
Tap on a date to start
Choose the shift for the recurring days
To remove/edit recurring preferences:
Tap on the date you want to change
Choose "Delete" to delete the existing preference(s);
OR choose a new shift to change your existing preference(s)
Special preferences
If your department has enabled special preferences, they will be given more weight compared to your normal preferences. In some cases, these preferences may go through an approval process, depending on your department’s setup.
To make a special request - Tap on "make it special" before choosing the shift
Please note that preferences are not guaranteed. A preference will only be granted if all other critical business and staffing coverage requirements are met.
Special preferences have a slightly higher chance of being met than normal preferences. We recommend strategically selecting your special preferences, as marking all preferences as high will dilute the prioritisation system and reduce the likelihood of your truly important preferences being granted.
